How to choose a CPA review course: a checklist
Choose a CPA review course on six things: the quality of its exam simulator, how well it explains answers, the realism of its mock exams, the support you get, whether it works in your language, and the total cost including a possible retake.
1. The simulator
It should look and behave like the real Prometric exam, including task-based simulations, not only multiple-choice questions.
2. The explanations
Check that wrong answers are explained as well as right ones, and that you can see how a calculation or table is built, not only the result.
3. Mock exams
Look for full-length mocks with a score estimate and a topic breakdown so you know when to book.
4. Support
Find out whether doubts are answered by a person or only by a forum or a chatbot, and how fast.
5. Language and format
If you think better in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu or Kannada, look for a provider that explains in those languages. Check that the mobile app works offline for commutes.
6. The true cost
Compare what each plan includes, access length, whether unused sections roll over, and what it costs to extend access if you need more time. Add exam fees, which you pay separately to your board and the test provider.
Frequently asked questions
Should I buy the whole course at once?
Only if the access period covers your whole timeline. Otherwise a section-by-section plan can reduce wasted spend.
